The Spatial Sciences Laboratory (SSL) in the College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University offers Graduate Certificates in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS), which are administered jointly through the Departments of Ecosystem Science and Management and Geography. In order to qualify for the GIS or RS certificates, a student must be admitted as a G6, G7, or G8 to Texas A&M University.
The SSL is a valuable asset in the fields of GIS, RS, and GPS. For Texas A&M University and the State of Texas, it serves as an important node for interdisciplinary research, teaching, and community outreach. The SSL expects that the next generation of environmental monitoring systems will rely on the seamless integration of GIS, RS, and GPS to process real-time data from multiple data sources.
