The Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is administered jointly through the Departments of Ecosystem Science and Management and Geography. The program has been designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for qualified individuals in the field of GIS technologies.

GIS technologies are applied to wide-ranging fields with interests in spatially distributed information such as transportation, environmental/resource management, marketing, facility management, healthcare delivery, homeland security, agriculture, and urban planning, among others.

The Office of the President has approved this program, and it will appear on the official Texas A&M University transcript. The certificate requires four courses (12 hours), including an introductory, two advanced, and one elective course. Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPR for all applicable coursework.
